The Kerouac Question
“And as far as I can see the world is too old for us to talk about it with our new words ― We will pass just as quietly through life (passing through, passing through)” Jack Kerouac, Big Sur […]
Banish me to a dark corner, chain me to a keyboard, and I will gladly be a word slave. I'd sit there all day, with only an occasional demand for a coffee break.

“If the purpose of life is this loveless toil we fill our days with, then it’s not for me. There must be something better. There has to be.” Brother Sun, Sister Moon, story of Saint Francis of Assisi. It’s been more than a month since my last post. […]
This Jack Nicholson line has been hiccupping across my brain quite a bit over the last couple weeks. I almost want to watch the movie over again, just so I can see him as he says it. I love the way it’s delivered – the way he’s in […]
“Fish aren’t meant to be in a box, kid. It does things to them.” This quote from “Finding Nemo” wandered into my brain recently while I was outside, enjoying a cigar. It snowed here for the first time this season, so I decided to take in the beauty […]
